Hi, I’m Jennifer Hassett, and my life with dogs began long before I ever imagined becoming an instructor. My journey into dog sports started with Patches, a rescued Lab who inspired me to take my very first obedience class at the local kennel club. That one class opened the door to a lifelong passion. After Patches, I added three more Labs to my life, each one teaching me something new and pulling me deeper into the world of training.

Over the years, I’ve shared my home with an incredible variety of breeds—Labs, Greyhounds, Whippets, an Olde English Bulldog, and now Russell Terriers. Working with both big, powerful dogs and small, quick thinkers has given me a unique, adaptable approach to training. Every dog learns differently, and understanding those differences has become the foundation of how I teach.

I started out in conformation and obedience, later dipped into agility, and enjoyed it—but I wasn’t truly hooked on the canine sports world until Rose came along. She’s the dog who shifted everything for me and opened the door to a deeper passion for dog sports.

Nose work became a turning point thanks to Kia, my reactive girl who needed a different kind of support. Watching her confidence grow through scent work changed the way I saw training. Helping her pass her ORT remains one of my proudest moments. She’s the reason I fell in love with nose work and why I’m so committed to helping all dogs—especially the sensitive or reactive ones—find success.

Today, I actively compete in NACSW, AKC, and CPE, and I’m proud to be a CPE judge, a provisionally approved AKC Scent Work judge for Novice and Advanced, an AKC Fetch judge, and an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator. With over 30 years in dog sports, I now teach both nose work and obedience classes with a focus on building confidence, teamwork, and joy.

I currently trial with three wonderful dogs who each bring something special to my life:

Rose – Labrador Retriever

I also carry with me the lessons and love of the dogs who came before:

At the Bridge:
Claudia, Moe, Torrey, Kia, Niki, Bugs, Sparkles, Zeddy, and Patches.
Each one shaped the trainer and person I am today.

Outside of dog sports, I love cooking and baking, brewing beer, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends, especially my partner in everything, Joe. These moments away from training help me stay balanced, creative, and grounded, and I bring that same energy and joy into my classes.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief:
Every dog deserves to feel successful, understood, and celebrated.

Whether your dog is bold, sensitive, silly, driven, or somewhere in between, I’d love to help you discover what they’re capable of. My classes are supportive, encouraging, and tailored to each dog’s individual needs—because no two dogs learn the same way.
